Sustainability at Co-Mac
At Co-Mac we have been striving to reduce the impact we have on the environment. One of the ways we looked at reducing this was through more efficient lighting.
The lights we had installed were fluorescent high-bay lights, drawing 324-400 watts. We upgraded them ECO LED High Bay Lights. We adjusted these new lights from 200 watts to 100 watts, which provided sufficient light for our needs. That’s roughly 4x more efficient than our old lights!
The lights are also fully controllable from the ground by remote control. This makes changing any settings quick and easy.
As well as this each light is controlled by an ambient light and a motion sensor. If enough ambient light is sensed the lights will not turn on.
When insufficient ambient light is sensed the light will only turn on if motion is sensed and will only remain on for a set amount of time.
Total power consumption for the old lights was 30.84kw compared to the new lights with 8.3kw. Also, with the ambient and motion sensors, power consumption will be less due to lights not being on all the time.
This means the lights are only on for a small amount of time each day, making our warehouse far more energy efficient.
